The Predator is a unique weapon featured in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl.
Appearances
Call of Pripyat
A tailor-made pump-action shotgun which used to belong to Trapper. The hunter's only requirement in respect of his weapon was that it needed to kill predators in one shot. This philosophy was based on the belief that no matter how many people an animal had killed, it was still just an animal, and thus should not suffer.
In-game description
In Call of Pripyat, the Predator is a unique Chaser 13 shotgun which boasts a large damage increase (it is the only shotgun that does more damage than the Eliminator), and a slight upgrade to rate of fire.
It is easily among the best shotguns of the game. Due to its high damage per shot, it is the best shotgun to use against mutants, especially with a full-auto upgrade. It is still effective against NPCs, although one may prefer to use the Eliminator as it offers a better fire rate, and is better to use with Slug rounds due to higher accuracy and ability to mount a SUSAT scope.
Acquisition
It is awarded to the player by Trapper upon completing the mission Night Hunt, along with being awarded the achievement Mutant Hunter.
Heart of Chornobyl
Formerly belonging to Trapper, this custom-built pump-action shotgun was designed to meet the owner's specific request for a significant boost in lethality.
In-game description
In Heart of Chornobyl, the Predator is now a variant of the M860 Cracker, which means it's been "buffed" with a box magazine. Unfortunately it also lost the damage bonus (contrary to the description) - compared to a regular Cracker it only has slightly lower dispersion and larger base magazine size, while being noticeably more expensive to repair. Additionally, it is incompatible with the Magazine Feed module.
Acquisition
Found in a stash behind the stage in Izumrudne at Zaton.

Glitches
Call of Pripyat
- A glitch has been found that allows the player to reload the weapon indefinitely, allowing several hundred rounds to be loaded into the magazine. Interrupting the reload will disallow further reloading until the extra ammo has been spent.
