The pyrogeist encountered towards the end of Lab X-18 can be quite easily killed with an RGD-5 grenade. Upon being closed in, the pyrogeist will usually follow a rough path. If one throws a grenade at the bottom of the staircase (leading to the document room), it will almost always kill the pyrogeist due to the small room, even on Master difficulty. The player will want to excercise care when using this method to avoid damage. If the player has no grenades upon entering the room, it will only be a slight inconvenience. To the immediate left of the code-locked door, their is a corridoor with stairs leading to a halllway. The pyrogeist is not likely to follow or attack in this hall, so it can also act as a safe area. At the far end of the hall, in the farthest two cupboards, there are many useful items including scientific medkits, 5.45x39mm ammo, bandages and other items (contents of stash needs checking). The most important being a metal crate of RGD-5 grenades, useful for killing the pyrogeist and allowing progression. Be warned, upon leaving the lab, military S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s will be present and attack the player on sight.
