Stay away from the Perimeter, and don’t go sniffing around the Sphere. We don’t bother the IPSF, they don’t bother us.
Sphere is a location in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl.
Background
The largest IPSF facility in the Lesser Zone, with a generator right at the center. It is the source of much stalker speculation as to what's going on within its confines. The most accepted theory is that it is used for mapping the anomalies of the Zone. The most infamous part, though, is Cpt. Sukhin, a corrupt IPSF official running a crooked operation out of the base, smuggling out artifacts and selling IPSF equipment on the side.
Points of interest
The base itself is not accessible initially, surrounded by sealed gates and walls. A part of it becomes accessible during Behind Seven Seals, when Skif tracks down Solder. This technical tunnel is linear and terminates in Solder's workshop, as well as a conversation with the man, which ends in a choice. Afterwards, Skif has to escape up through the surface, through the main institute building with the giant sphere on top. The exit is possible through the main courtyard, flanked by ISPF bunkers, either through the northern gate with a throng of IPSF soldiers, or through the hole in the fence to the west.
The Sphere plays a greater role in later parts of the storyline, when it comes under a Monolith attack.
