Operation Zenith was a joint operation undertaken by a combined force of multiple stalker factions under the command of SIRCAA. The goal was to capture and disable the Generators in the far north of the Zone.
It was mentioned in the documents released after the 2021 ARG. The armored convoy can be found in the Dead Valley in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl.
Background
Following the events of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat, the Scientific Institute for Research of the Chernobyl Anomalous Area was created to investigate the Zone. Among its goals was to reach unexplored areas of the Zone.
Prior to the Operation, the D4 conference was held among multiple stalker factions at an unknown date. As a result, a fragile truce was reached between Freedom and Duty. Additionally, the former Monolith forces under the command of Strider were recruited for operations in highly polluted areas. Operation Zenith was set to be planned in detail at further meetings.
The operation was conducted by a combined force of Ward, Duty, Freedom, Noon and Perimeter Security Force fighters.
Outcome
The operation was declared a total failure and one of the greatest failures in SIRCAA's history. Ward forces reportedly repeated the failure of the first military raid into the Zone in 2006. There were massive personnel and equipment losses, and erosion of the hard-earned trust between factions, notably between the allied factions, PSF and Duty. Professor Dalin was blamed for the failure.
Due to their negligence in the responsibility assigned to them during Operation Zenith, Ward forced almost copletely repeated the collapse of the Ukrainian armed forces during the operation in 2006. Turning off the Generators was a critical element in achieving our gooal, but as a result, we lost not only our armored personnel carrier and aviation reserves, but also shook the trust of the allied PSF and Duty forces.
Notable Characters
- Zenith 1[1] - Presumably the lead vehicle in the armored convoy.
- Zenith 2[2], also referred to as Sky - A helicopter taking psi measurements and observing the operations.
Trivia
- As the ARG story was written in 2021, the story deviates slightly from the final version of the game. Notably, Dr. Dalin was a professor, and the Perimeter Security Force was not international.
