Serbin is a character who only appears in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat.
Previous History
His identity is left ambiguous and little detail is given - presumably he works for a rival research institute compared to the other Ecologist faction, or is a corrupt Ecologist himself. With Jackal’s influence with the government, any of these may be likely. It is doubtful he is personally experienced with the Zone, as he is accompanied everywhere by a very large detachment of Mercenaries, alongside his own two companions.
Appearances
Call of Pripyat
Serbin only appears once, after being mentioned in other Mercenaries' PDAs throughout the game (the mysterious representative). After being informed by Garry that a meeting involving the Mercenaries is about to take place in the Apartment Complex, the player can talk to Colonel Kovalsky to carry out an assassination, after what they'll be transported to an apartment overlooking the meeting place and given a SVDm-2 by Kirillov.
Serbin wears a unique SSP-99M Suit, just like his two companions, although the biggest giveaway of Serbin is that he is the only person in the meeting not carrying a weapon, his pistol is always holstered as well. The suit appears to give him higher resistance than a normal Ecologist suit, as, like Jackal, the only way to reliably take him down is to score a headshot on him.
Serbin carries the Red X8 keycard which can only be collected after killing him and looting it from his body, which gives access to a storage room inside Lab X-8 which contains multiple weapons and many supplies.
If Serbin survives the assassination attempt, the player will not be able to access the storage room, and after exiting Lab X-8, Degtyarev will be met with a surprise. Three Mercenaries will sneak into the building, sent by Serbin, in an attempt to kill him and collect the data from Lab X-8, or even enter. They will stealthily crouch walk in, maneuvering in front of the elevator to murder Degtyarev, and they will have to be killed.
