Scoutmaster
Scoutmaster, when he used to be known as Surgeon
Scoutmaster is a character who appears in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl as a loner, and in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat as a mercenary named Surgeon.
He was added to S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 with Patch 1.8, Stories Untold. Scoutmaster is first mentioned in the optional quest Dark as a Dungeon, and meets Skif during the optional quest Banzai's Tools. He belongs to a small party of Stalkers called the NK-5 Research Group including Medulin, Banzai and Rascal.
It is revealed near the end of the NK-5 Research Group quest line that he used to be known as Surgeon, a mercenary who previously worked with Black and Skull.
Background (Call of Pripyat)
Surgeon and the rest of Black's group first appear in the area around Yanov, guarding the scientists' bunker. He appears in the quest Last developments: After Degtyarev retrieves the administrative documents for Hermann at the Jupiter factory, a group of mercenaries ambushed him - Surgeon included.
Surgeon survived this encounter and continued working with Skull for some time, until eventually deciding to quit life as a mercenary.
Background (Heart of Chornobyl)
He is re-introduced during Heart of Chornobyl as a member NK-5 research group along with Banzai, Rascal and Medulin.
After Skif retrieves Banzai's tools at the sunken barge north-east of the Chemical Plant during the Banzai's Tools quest, Banzai directs Skif over the radio to meet Scoutmaster at Kazkovyi Camp.
When he first meets Skif, he is injured and requests help clearing Kazkovyi camp of threats. This starts the quest Once Upon a Time at Kazkovyi.
Scoutmaster introduces himself as a guide, but the player must complete part of the quest line for him to be hired.
Banzai's Tools (Quest) and Once Upon a Time at Kazkovyi (Quest)
During the quest Once Upon a Time at Kazkovyi. He provides Skif with a key to the Kazkovyi camp's side building and explains the mission objectives. He praises Skif once the quest is complete.
Trivia
- He says "bandit ambushes are bad for your health after turning forty," when first meeting Skif. The subtitles do not include the "after turning forty," part of the sentence.
