Vampire (Ru. Упырь) is an experienced Loner appearing in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl.

Background

Stalker born under a lucky star. Many times, the teams he was with would end up in tight spots and every time he was the only survivor. Most stalkers stay away from him on account of the bad luck he is said to bring. Has been roaming the Zone on his own for quite some time now^{[non-game. 1]}. He has an assistant named Clumsy.

Shadow of Chernobyl

He is one of the assassination targets of Barkeep, because the people who travel with Vampire mysteriously die, while he himself returns alive. He also carries a unique weapon; the Noiseless Viper.

Vampire is initially found in the Garbage but soon travels to the Dark Valley, settling at the Pig farm. He joins a group of scammers claiming to sell a Gauss rifle for 800 RU. If the player "buys" the weapon and attempts to enter the farm, the entire group, Vampire included, turns hostile. If the player kills Vampire, then only Clumsy will attack the player.

• Kill the stalker called Vampire - Barkeep wants the player to assassinate Vampire, in exchange for a Fireball artifact.

Trivia

• Vampire may be based on Burbridge the Vulture, a character from the novel Roadside Picnic. Vulture has a very similar reputation for being the lone survivor of failed expeditions, however it is rumoured that his actions are far more malicious, abandoning fellow stalkers for dead or even deliberately leading them into anomalies to map their positions and effects.
